What Affect the Settling Velocity of Ball Mill?

Ball mill is the key equipment to grind materials after the crushing process, which is widely used in cement, silicate products, new construction materials, refractory, chemical fertilizer, black and non-ferrous metals, glass chinaware and other production industries. It can conduct dry or wet grinding for many kinds of ores and other materials which can be grinded. The main factors which affect the settling velocity of ball mill are the particle size and density, fluid resistance, density and acceleration as well as the influence of interference settlement, the influence of wall and variable subsidence stage in the actual production process.

Interference settlement. During the settlement process, if the concentration of suspended particles is large, particles will influence each other. The particle sedimentation process is not only in the particle fluid mechanical control, but also physical and chemical phenomena as well as the associated particle fluid. Such as particle cohesion and collision, and the situation is more complex.

The influence of the wall. When the sedimentation of coarse particles is in the container of small diameter, the settling velocity can be modified by the following correction coefficient. When the particle is small, the error will be small. The general particle surface is not smooth or spherical, which often has irregular shape and drag coefficient by the particle shape effect. Even if the same shape of particles, because of their different positions and fluid flow directions at different area, their resistance coefficients are also different.

The effect of strain settlement stage. No matter the gravity settling velocity or the centrifugal settling, they are carried out in a high speed, namely the settlement acceleration of the particle is zero. Strictly speaking, the particles from the transmission stage to the uniform motion stage will take some time, but when the particle settling velocity is close to the uniform speed, the time is limited.
